Job Description
The role involves managing environmental projects related to wetlands and natural resource assessments, preparing technical documents and permit applications, supervising field personnel, and ensuring compliance with regulations, while leading project teams and maintaining client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review technical documents such as wetland and WOTUS delineation reports and permit applications.
- Supervise, mentor, and support field personnel in natural resource assessments.
- Lead and manage natural resource management projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and quality control.
- Collect field data and produce reports for environmental and natural resource evaluations.
- Serve as project manager and technical lead on environmental permitting and natural resource projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in environmental wetland science, biology, ecology, geology, engineering, planning, or a related physical sciences discipline
- 6-10 years of relevant professional experience in environmental permitting, especially wetlands permitting, and consulting services in the Midwest
- Ability to complete complex wetland delineations including the ability to delineate independently, function and value assessments, vernal pool surveys, wildlife habitat assessments, wetland restoration replication planning design, and construction oversight inspection
- Understanding of federal, state, and local environmental statutes and regulations
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including producing high-quality written reports and verbal presentations at hearings
- Experience preparing and obtaining wetland WOTUS permits for Clean Water Act Section 404 and 401, threatened and endangered species, and natural resources rules and regulations
- Demonstrated successful client and regulatory agency relationships
- Supplementary experience in other areas of natural resources consulting such as wildlife surveys, botanical surveys, and familiarity with Water and Soil Resources
- Ability to travel as needed for projects throughout the country
- Has substantial authority in the selection of project team members, the assignment of work to project team members, and the scheduling of projects
- Works closely with other Project Managers to develop project teams and schedules
- Highly organized and proactive communicator
