Job Description

The position involves serving as a lead process engineer in midstream, pipeline, or specialty chemical projects, developing process designs, performing calculations and analyses, and coordinating with project teams to deliver engineering solutions in the oil and gas or chemical industries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as lead process engineer and senior technical advisor on multiple projects in midstream, pipeline, and specialty chemical sectors
  • Develop and review process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, and heat and material balances
  • Build and validate process simulations, perform hydraulic and equipment sizing calculations
  • Prepare engineering reports, specifications, datasheets, and calculations for process systems and equipment
  • Lead or participate in hazard and risk analyses such as HAZOP, LOPA, and PHA
  • Perform feasibility studies, conceptual and front-end design, optimization, and debottlenecking
  • Coordinate with project managers, discipline leads, clients, vendors, and contractors to ensure project scope, schedule, and quality

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive process engineering experience in midstream, pipeline, or specialty chemical environments.
  • Bachelor of Science in Chemical, Mechanical, Petroleum, or Biochemical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
  • Experience serving as a lead engineer on multi-discipline projects.
  • Strong foundation in process design and control, including development of PFDs, P IDs, and heat and material balances.
  • Proficiency in process calculations, including chemical balances, pipe hydraulics and flow rates, compression, maximum intended inventory, and overpressure protection.
  • Demonstrated experience with equipment sizing and specification for compressors, gas turbines, pumps, heat exchangers, dehydration units, storage vessels, separators, relief valves, distillation columns, and reactors.
  • Ability to develop and review process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P IDs), and heat and material balances (H MBs).
  • Experience performing process simulations and hydraulic calculations, line sizing, and equipment sizing.
  • Ability to prepare engineering reports, specifications, datasheets, and calculations for process systems and equipment.
  • Experience leading or participating in HAZOP, LOPA, PHA, and risk analyses.
  • Experience performing feasibility and economic studies, conceptual and front-end design, optimization, and debottlenecking.
  • Ability to coordinate with project managers, discipline leads, clients, vendors, and contractors to deliver project scope, schedule, and quality.
  • Experience conducting independent QA/QC of process deliverables and reviewing other disciplines for alignment with process design intent.
  • Experience reviewing and responding to RFIs and third-party vendor drawings.
  • Experience performing field work to gather design information and support commissioning as needed.
  • Ability to contribute to proposals for engineering services and support business development.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across disciplines.
