Job Description
A Title Agent responsible for conducting statewide title research related to renewable energy projects in Michigan, including solar and wind development, by analyzing recorded agreements and supporting development teams with critical information, primarily through remote work with occasional travel to courthouses.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform title research on recorded agreements filed by renewable developers dating back up to 20 years.
- Compile and organize research results into a consistent spreadsheet format.
- Support solar and wind development teams by gathering critical competitive intelligence.
- Travel to courthouses statewide to conduct in-person title research as needed.
- Assist with surface ownership title research when required.
Requirements
- Must have title research experience, courthouse or online, with the ability to perform title research dating back up to 20 years to identify recorded agreements by other renewable companies.
- Proficiency in compiling and organizing research results into a clean, consistent spreadsheet format using Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and comfort with understanding and interpreting historical deed language.
- Tech-savvy with the ability to utilize online resources and tools for title research.
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel for courthouse research across Michigan, including travel to courthouses in the Lower Peninsula and select counties in the Upper Peninsula as needed.
- Must have an active LLC.
- This is a full-time 1099 contract role, not benefits-eligible.
- Michigan-based candidates preferred, but open to strong researchers in nearby states willing to travel.
