Job Description
The role involves performing land survey activities such as site measurements, mapping, and layout using specialized equipment, while collaborating with team members and ensuring safety protocols are followed. The position requires interpreting engineering plans and may include mentoring responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform survey activities including leveling, traversing, topographic mapping, construction layout, as-built, boundary, profile, and cross-section surveys.
- Set up, adjust, and operate Trimble survey equipment such as total stations, data collectors, and GPS devices.
- Measure distances, angles, and elevations for staking and survey purposes.
- Review and adjust survey field calculations as needed.
- Locate or establish vertical and horizontal control points.
- Measure utility points including curb, gutter, water, sewer, storm drain, and paving using Trimble equipment.
- Prepare accurate field notes and complete as-built drawings.
- Maintain survey work-issued vehicles, laptops, and equipment.
- Follow safety protocols during survey activities.
- Work independently or collaboratively within a survey crew.
- Read and interpret engineering plans.
- Mentor and assist with training and professional development of survey crew members.
Requirements
- Perform survey activities such as leveling, traversing, topographic mapping, construction layout, as-built surveys, boundary surveys, and profile and cross-section surveys.
- Set up, adjust, and operate Trimble survey equipment including total station, data collector, and GPS equipment.
- Take pride in measuring distances, angles, and elevations for staking purposes.
- Review survey field calculations and adjust when needed.
- Locate or establish vertical and horizontal control.
- Utilize Trimble equipment to measure all utility points including curb and gutter, water sewer, storm drain, and paving.
- Prepare accurate field notes and complete as-built drawings.
- Responsible for maintaining work-issued vehicles, laptops, and survey equipment.
- Follow Atwell’s safety protocols.
- Work independently as a one-man crew or collaborate with a survey crew member.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering plans.
- Previous experience working outside is preferred.
- Ability to effectively communicate with contractors, inspectors, and team leaders.
- Availability to travel as required.
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and the ability to verify calculations are correct is preferred.
