Job Description

The role involves designing and managing land development projects, including site layout, utility, roadway, and grading design, as well as preparing permits, cost estimates, and construction drawings, while collaborating with clients and team members to ensure project success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare engineer’s opinion of probable cost and design calculations
  • Develop conceptual site layouts, utility, roadway, and site grading designs
  • Create permit applications and assist with regulatory compliance
  • Conduct feasibility studies, master planning, and design of water, sanitary, and storm sewer systems
  • Assist in proposal preparation, project specifications, and final construction drawings
  • Mentor and delegate tasks to Staff Engineers and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, and billing activities
  • Participate in business development and represent the firm at client and municipal meetings

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in land development or related engineering fields.
  • Passed Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
  • Strong understanding of local governmental public and private development codes.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D software.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Outstanding writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prepare engineer’s opinion of probable cost, design calculations, permit applications, feasibility studies, master planning, and engineering design of water, sanitary, and storm sewer, paving, and detention facilities.
  • Ability to review and prepare project specifications and assist in production of final construction drawings.
  • Ability to mentor and assist with training Staff Engineers and delegate specific project components.
  • Ability to work closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.
  • Ability to manage project schedules and ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Ability to prepare and monitor project budgets, billing, and assist with accounts receivable.
  • Ability to participate in business development activities and professionally represent the firm at client and municipal meetings and hearings.
  • Physical ability to frequently sit, talk, or hear; occasionally stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Ability to frequently lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
