Job Description
The role involves designing and managing land development projects, including site layout, utility, roadway, and grading design, as well as providing permitting, cost estimation, and client support within civil engineering projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare engineer's opinion of probable cost and design calculations
- Develop conceptual site layouts, utility, roadway, and site grading designs
- Create permit applications and assist with regulatory compliance
- Conduct feasibility studies, master planning, and design of water, sewer, paving, and detention facilities
- Assist in preparing proposals, project specifications, and final construction drawings
- Mentor and delegate tasks to Staff Engineers and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and billing activities
- Participate in business development and represent the firm at client and municipal meetings
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university.
- Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification is required.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in land development or related engineering fields.
- Passed Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
- Strong understanding of local governmental public and private development codes.
- Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D software.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Outstanding writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Physical ability to sit and talk or hear frequently during work.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl occasionally.
- Ability to lift or move up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to work occasionally in outside weather conditions, possibly for extended periods.
