Job Description
The Mechanical Engineering Manager leads a team within the Product Development Engineering Organization, overseeing project execution, technical analysis, and talent development to ensure the successful delivery of innovative products in compliance with company standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and insight in product development and team management
- Recruit, develop, and retain engineering talent
- Coordinate daily activities within the Mechanical Engineering group
- Work with Program Managers and Directors to allocate resources for projects
- Escalate and resolve issues from internal and external customers
- Contribute to strategic planning and decision-making for the organization
- Create development programs for new reports
- Participate in quoting processes
- Perform engineering analyses such as thermal, vibration, and tolerance assessments
- Set performance standards for technical and behavioral aspects within the team
- Evaluate and conduct performance reviews of direct reports
- Ensure projects are delivered on time and comply with standards
- Maintain department metrics in accordance with AS9100
- Oversee selection and implementation of software tools
- Assess departmental tools and needs, maintaining current tools
- Study new initiatives for feasibility and discuss with management
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Engineering
- Experience in thermal analysis of Switch Mode Power Supplies (SMPS)
- Experience in design for manufacturing
- Experience in different metal and plastic manufacturing methods and their application to real projects
- Ability to define, scope, plan, schedule, and direct highly complex software projects
- Ability to work closely, engage, and motivate team members and cross-functional teams
- Realistic outlook on work estimation and deadlines
