Job Description
The Mechanical Engineering Manager leads and oversees the mechanical engineering team within the Product Development Engineering Organization, providing technical guidance, managing projects, recruiting talent, and ensuring timely delivery of innovative products in compliance with company standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and insights in product development
- Recruit, develop, and retain engineering talent
- Coordinate daily activities within the Mechanical Engineering team
- Work with Program Managers and Directors to allocate resources for projects
- Escalate and resolve issues from internal and external customers
- Contribute to strategic planning and decision-making within the organization
- Create development programs for new reports
- Participate in quoting processes
- Perform engineering analyses such as thermal, vibration, and tolerance assessments
- Set performance standards for technical and behavioral aspects within the team
- Evaluate and conduct performance reviews of direct reports
- Ensure project delivery aligns with timelines and standards
- Maintain department metrics in accordance with AS9100 standards
- Oversee selection and implementation of software tools
- Assess departmental tools and needs, maintaining current software systems
- Study new initiatives for feasibility and discuss with management
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Engineering
- Experience in thermal analysis of Switch Mode Power Supplies (SMPS)
- Experience in design for manufacturing
- Experience in different metal and plastic manufacturing methods and their application to real projects
- Ability to create a development program for new reports
- Participate in the quoting process
- Perform a range of engineering analysis required by the designs such as tolerance, thermal, vibration, etc.
- Collaborate with the Director to set standards for performance, technical and behavioral within the group
- Responsible for evaluation and performance reviews of direct reports
- Work in conjunction with Program Managers to assign resources to projects through ongoing review and support
- Ensure projects are delivered in a timely fashion and in compliance with ATDI standard processes
- Keep department metrics in accordance with AS9100 standards
- Oversee the selection and implementation of software tools, assess current tools, and maintain the tools ATDI currently has
- Study new initiatives within the department for feasibility and discuss them with management
- Participate in the corporate strategic planning process from the standpoints of product and organizational development
