Job Description

A Mechanical Engineer at Astrodyne TDI is responsible for designing, supporting, and documenting mechanical components and products, including magnetic devices like transformers and inductors, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure quality, manufacturability, and project completion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design of magnetic products such as Transformers and Inductors
  • Follow manufacturing practices and quality guidelines in all designs
  • Generate complete engineering drawings adhering to industry standards
  • Update legacy product documentation through the ECN process
  • Support mechanical engineers and staff as needed
  • Provide project updates during meetings
  • Coordinate with internal departments to ensure on-time project completion

Requirements

  • A minimum of a bachelor s degree in mechanical engineering.
  • At least 2 years of experience in mechanical engineering.
  • Proficiency with CAD software packages, specifically ProE Creo preferred, and 2D CAD software experience.
  • Experience with generating fully defined mechanical drawings while considering manufacturability and cost.
  • Experience with design, review, and support of mechanical products, including managing the entire design process such as design reviews, 3D models, 2D mechanical drawings, documentation, and production support of new product builds.
  • Ability to generate high quality and complete engineering drawings following industry standards.
  • Ability to update existing legacy product documentation via Engineering Change Notice (ECN) process.
  • Experience working with sheet metal designs is highly desired.
  • Experience in material selection and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to coordinate with internal departments for on-time project completion.
  • Ability to support other mechanical engineers and staff when necessary.
  • Provide project updates during weekly meetings to department and program managers.
