Job Description
The internship involves supporting client accounting services by recording transactions, preparing financial statements, developing reports, and assisting with bookkeeping and tax-related tasks, providing hands-on experience in a professional accounting environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately record transaction details and prepare financial statements using accounting software
- Develop schedules, reports, bank reconciliations, and annual unclaimed property filings to enhance clients' financial reporting
- Assist with controllership and bookkeeping services, including workpapers, trial balances, depreciation schedules, and engagement correspondence
- Resolve accounts payable issues and gather data for tax return preparation
- Maintain organized and well-documented client tax files
Requirements
- High-potential accounting students interested in Client Accounting Services
- Candidates who want to continue Aprio's standard of excellence and dive straight into hands-on accounting projects
- Availability to participate in the Spring 2027 Internship Program from January to April and the Summer 2027 Internship Program from June to August
- Ability to work in the Topeka and Overland Park, Kansas offices
- Ability to support the firm’s financial operations by accurately recording transaction details and preparing timely financial statements using accounting software
- Ability to develop schedules, reports, bank reconciliations, and annual unclaimed property filings to strengthen clients’ financial reporting
- Assist professional staff with controllership and bookkeeping services, contributing to workpapers, trial balances, depreciation schedules, and engagement correspondence
- Play a key role in resolving accounts payable issues and gathering essential data for tax return preparation
- Ensure client tax files are well maintained and organized
