Job Description

A senior-level, hands-on Product Designer responsible for shaping strategic product opportunities, elevating design quality, and driving clarity in complex, ambiguous problem spaces to support Amber's mission of accelerating renewable energy adoption through innovative energy management solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Elevate design quality and ensure clarity in ambiguous problem spaces.
  • Influence and inspire cross-functional teams through example and expertise.
  • Contribute hands-on design work demonstrating exceptional craft and product judgment.
  • Collaborate with teams to develop user-centered solutions that support renewable energy transition.

Requirements

  • The candidate must be the most senior individual contributor (IC) designer in the team, working across multiple product streams where their expertise can have the highest impact.
  • Ability to shape direction, elevate quality, and drive clarity in ambiguous problem spaces through influence and example rather than management.
  • Thrive on complex product challenges and be energized by lifting the quality of craft and decision-making across a growing organization.
  • Full-time availability to work ideally from Melbourne, Australia, with flexibility between the office and remote work, or consideration for candidates anywhere within Australia who meet the criteria.
  • Candidates must already be based in Australia with full working rights to apply.
  • Experience in designing products that improve environmental impact and support renewable energy initiatives is preferred but not explicitly mandatory.
  • Ability to participate in a multi-stage interview process including a screening interview, an intro call with the hiring manager, a take-home case study assignment, a follow-up case study interview with cross-functional team members, and a final cultural interview with executive leadership.
