Job Description

This role involves developing and testing GIS and mapping applications for mobile devices, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure software quality, and supporting field data collection processes in a scientific or engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in delivering high-quality releases of field apps that meet user needs
  • Test software and mobile applications to ensure development goals and real-world use cases are met
  • Increase automated testing throughout the software development cycle
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to establish, review, and prioritize test plans and manual tests for automation
  • Advocate for quality and optimize testing processes during software development
  • Understand and analyze user workflows and requirements through testing and software analysis
  • Facilitate onsite testing events and incorporate outcomes into the development cycle
  • Document features, workflows, and functionality for users

Requirements

  • Experience as a creator and user of field work data collection solutions, including use of both paper and electronic tools
  • Understanding of field data collection processes including GNSS receivers and workflows
  • Knowledge of various mobile platforms (iOS, Android, Windows) and awareness of their capabilities and limitations
  • Experience with automated testing software, such as UiPath, Smartbear, Selenium or similar, to author and maintain testing in a development environment
  • Experience with ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, Survey123, QuickCapture, Field Maps, or Collector
  • Experience with webhook integration solutions such as Microsoft Power Automate or Make
  • Experience with Open Data Kit (ODK), GeoODK, ODK Collect, Enketo, Fulcrum, form.io, KoBoCollect, CSPro, iFormBuilder, or ONA
  • Experience working with desktop, server, and mobile GIS technologies
  • Ability to work closely with the team to build quality software in a constantly evolving environment
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Two or more years of GIS experience in a scientific or engineering environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, GIS, or a related field
  • Existing work authorization for Australia
