Job Description
A Software Engineer II at Alarm.com designs and develops scalable, full-stack software solutions across various platforms to enhance smart home and commercial property technologies, collaborating with cross-functional teams throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver scalable, full-stack software solutions across multiple platforms and technologies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical and business requirements.
- Research, evaluate, and apply new technologies and methodologies to solve complex problems.
- Participate in the entire software development lifecycle from requirements gathering to deployment.
- Develop and maintain unit tests to ensure software quality.
Requirements
- Bachelor's in computer science, Computer Engineering, a related field, or equivalent work experience
- 2 years of professional software development experience
- Strong object-oriented programming skills
- Experience with SQL databases, including schema application development, query optimization, analyzing query plans, finding and introducing indexes, and applying database table design best practices
- Familiarity with a front-end framework like Ember, Angular, Vue, or React
- The ability to develop full stack software for a wide variety of platforms and technologies
- The ability to collaborate with teams across the company to define solutions that meet both business and technical needs
- Engagement in the research, evaluation, and application of new technologies and methodologies to solve challenging problems
- Participation in the entire project life cycle, from requirements development to deployment
- Flexibility to adapt to quick development cycles, evolving requirements, and cross-team collaboration
- Good judgment to know when to work quickly and when to build a robust solution
- Ability to bring ideas and collaborate on product development
- Proficiency in analyzing query plans, finding and introducing indexes, and applying database performance analysis
- Proficiency in creating and maintaining unit tests
