Job Description

A Quality Engineer at Alarm.com for Business is responsible for validating hardware, software, and back-end systems related to access control, ensuring product quality through end-to-end testing, collaboration with product teams, and continuous improvement of product performance and usability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute test plans, document defects, and provide test reports
  • Set up and maintain test environments for product testing
  • Coordinate testing efforts across multiple teams
  • Triaging problems, prioritizing issues, and proposing resolutions
  • Applying testing methodologies and engineering knowledge to certify products and deployments
  • Ensure product performance, usability, and quality from conceptualization to post-launch

Requirements

  • A college degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a relevant discipline.
  • Preferred 1-2 years of relevant experience in Quality Assurance, especially in a fast-paced, agile environment.
  • Ability to develop test plans, document appropriate defects, and provide relevant data for test reporting.
  • Ability to triage problems, prioritize accordingly, and propose a resolution.
  • Ability to work independently, raise issues, and take corrective action.
  • Experience setting up and maintaining test environments for success.
  • Applying test methodology, engineering, and product knowledge in certification of products and weekly deployments.
  • Coordinate test efforts across multiple teams.
  • Attention to detail and ability to provide clear, informative test steps.
  • Excellent problem solving, troubleshooting, time management, and analysis skills.
  • Self-motivated with strong technical and communication skills, and a deep interest in product quality.
  • Team-focused, with a proven track record of thriving in a collaborative environment.
  • Humble and willing to learn mindset.
  • Proficiency in estimating testing schedules and optimizing test plans.
