Job Description
A Quality Engineer (SDET) at Alarm.com is responsible for ensuring the quality, performance, and reliability of web and mobile applications through manual and automated testing, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software products.
Key Responsibilities
- Understand product functionality, data content, and system architecture
- Execute manual tests, track defects, and verify fixes
- Develop, maintain, and execute automated test scripts for UI and API
- Collaborate with developers and product managers to define acceptance criteria and design test cases
- Set up, maintain, and improve test environments, tools, and frameworks
- Analyze logs, inspect data flows, and review code to debug issues
- Perform functional, regression, and integration testing
- Create and run smoke, sanity, and regression test suites
- Triage defects, verify fixes, and validate deployments
- Implement and improve continuous testing within CI/CD pipelines
Requirements
- 1 to 2 years of hands-on experience in software quality engineering and/or developing automation tests.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related discipline.
- Familiarity with at least one programming language such as Java, Python, or JavaScript for writing automated tests.
- Experience with UI test automation tools such as Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright.
- Experience with API testing tools such as Postman or REST Assured.
- Understanding of software testing methodologies, including functional, regression, and integration testing.
- Basic knowledge of CI/CD pipelines such as Jenkins or GitHub Actions.
- Experience with version control systems such as Git.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills to convey test results and quality risks.
