The Associate General Counsel at Alarm.com provides legal advice and support across various areas including commercial contracts, privacy, cybersecurity, and compliance, working closely with different business teams to support the company's growth and strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts including software, technology, services, vendor, reseller, manufacturer, and licensing agreements.
Advise on legal issues related to commercial terms, compliance, privacy, security, and regulatory matters.
Collaborate with various business teams to provide legal support and facilitate scaling of legal and business processes.
Develop and implement compliance policies and procedures to ensure regulatory and business standards are met.
Requirements
J.D. from a leading law school.
5 years of relevant experience in an in-house or large law firm environment, with start-up, software, or technology industry experience highly desirable.
Significant experience independently negotiating, drafting, and reviewing a broad range of commercial contracts including software, technology, services, vendor, reseller, manufacturer, licensing, and other commercial agreements.
Familiarity with a wide range of legal matters including corporate, commercial, privacy, litigation, intellectual property, regulatory, and compliance issues.
Ability to work under pressure, juggle multiple matters with competing priorities, meet deadlines, stay organized, problem-solve, and adapt to change within a growing company while maintaining an excellent bedside manner.
Superior interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate with empathy, professionalism, and clarity, and to build strong, trust-based relationships with internal stakeholders and clients.
Excellent judgment and proven ability to work independently while proactively seeking guidance or input as appropriate.
Proven organizational, analytical, and negotiation skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Highly skilled in standard office software and able to adapt quickly to new technologies.
Membership in, or eligibility for admission to, the Virginia Bar including Corporate Counsel admission.
Ability to provide legal advice on legal issues relating to commercial terms, compliance, privacy, security, and regulatory matters.
Ability to develop and drive compliance policies and procedures designed to enhance regulatory and business standards compliance and support the company’s business and strategic objectives.
