Job Description
The Spot Trader will support the energy trading operations for Akaysha's battery assets by developing and executing trading strategies, optimizing asset deployment in energy markets, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance trading performance and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and execute real-time energy and FCAS market trading strategies for Akaysha's assets.
- Develop, implement, and optimize spot trading strategies and bidding protocols.
- Ensure assets are deployed in compliance with market rules, laws, and internal policies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to review trading performance and manage risks.
- Design, develop, and enhance trading and analytical tools to improve strategy execution.
- Analyze market data to identify opportunities and support decision-making.
- Support regulatory compliance by assessing rule changes and preparing submissions.
Requirements
- Proficiency with energy trading platforms, risk management systems, and advanced analytical tools for monitoring and optimising trading performance.
- Demonstrated expertise in energy markets, supported by a strong grasp of market dynamics, real-time dispatch operations, pricing structures, regulatory frameworks, and emerging trends.
- Experience in developing and executing spot trading strategies, ensuring contractual obligations are met, and analysing key market data in collaboration with the market analysis team.
- Experience in dispatching assets in the NEM and FCAS markets using auto-bidding and manual strategies, and establishing trading procedures.
- Ability to develop and optimise trading and analytical tools to support market analysis and improve trading strategy execution.
- Experience in ensuring assets are deployed in line with all applicable market rules, laws, and internal compliance policies, and supporting the regulatory team by assessing rule changes and preparing submissions.
- Experience collaborating cross-functionally with Market Performance, Asset Management, Engineering, and Commercial teams to review trading performance, accurately record risks, and align workstreams for optimal trading outcomes.
- Coding skills in Python (ideally), or equivalent programming languages, for developing trading and analytical tools.
- Ability to clearly communicate relevant information and perspectives to the trading team and wider business to support shared understanding and informed decision-making.
