Job Description
The Senior Development Manager will lead the end-to-end development of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System projects, overseeing land acquisition, permitting, stakeholder engagement, and project optimization to deliver large-scale renewable energy solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive the development lifecycle of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System projects from concept to construction readiness.
- Navigate regulatory, commercial, and technical landscapes to ensure project viability and market alignment.
- Manage land acquisition, permitting processes, and stakeholder engagement to minimize development risks.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to optimize project design and secure grid connection approvals.
- Oversee project budgets, risk management, schedules, and contribute to process improvements.
Requirements
- Proven track record in utility-scale renewable energy development, with at least 7-10 years experience in BESS, solar, wind, or grid-scale infrastructure.
- Deep knowledge of energy markets, grid connection processes, and regulatory frameworks governing renewable energy and storage projects.
- Demonstrated leadership in project development, managing multiple large-scale projects and delivering on key milestones.
- Strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence decision makers across government, regulatory bodies, and the private sector.
- Excellent commercial acumen, with the ability to develop business cases, evaluate project economics, and present recommendations to executive leadership.
- Technical proficiency in BESS design, grid connection, and permitting processes, with the ability to engage meaningfully with engineers, consultants, and market operators.
- Proficiency in managing land acquisition and permitting processes, including negotiations with stakeholders and engagement with environmental consultants and authorities.
- Ability to oversee project budgets, risk registers, and schedules, and contribute to continuous improvement of development processes.
- High-level written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting to investors, regulators, and corporate leadership.
- Ability to travel to project sites and attend evening or weekend meetings and events as needed.

- Self-starter with strong initiative, capable of working autonomously and leading cross-functional teams in a high-growth environment.
