Job Description

The role involves managing and developing government partnerships to support Acumen's mission of addressing poverty and climate challenges through fundraising, proposal development, relationship management, and cross-functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop existing and new government partnerships to support Acumen's strategy on climate and poverty
  • Lead proposal development, including writing, budgeting, and responding to due diligence for new funding opportunities
  • Coordinate and oversee project management, reporting, and compliance for government-funded projects
  • Engage with government partners through relationship management, partner calls, and high-level events
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with teams such as programs, communications, legal, and finance to deliver effective partnerships
  • Develop and maintain stakeholder maps and conduct annual assessments of government partnerships
  • Research and identify opportunities for external engagement, including conferences and events, and represent Acumen externally
  • Update fundraising and communication materials to align with government partner audiences
  • Support internal knowledge sharing and contribute to the Institutional Partnerships team

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8-10 years of relevant experience in fundraising, account management, or project management, ideally working with bilateral or multilateral donors.
  • Grant writing and budgeting experience is essential and will be a core part of the role.
  • Proficiency in managing and understanding project level budgets and forecasts.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, able to prioritize and deliver on time.
  • Operational skills such as problem solving and project management, including the ability to work and deliver projects independently, proactively, and within deadlines.
  • Experience supporting proposal development, including writing, work planning, budget development, responding to due diligence, and contract negotiations for new business development opportunities with government funders.
  • Experience in evaluating requests for proposals.
  • Ability to support tracking the effectiveness of key government partnerships across the organization.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively cross-functionally with grant managers, finance, legal, communications, and regional teams to ensure compliance, donor reporting, and delivery of grant-based outputs.
  • Experience developing and maintaining stakeholder maps for existing government partners, including managing multiple engagements across various geographies and programs.
  • Ability to conduct annual assessments of government partnerships and prepare analysis decks to identify strengths and areas for improvement.
  • Experience conducting research on events, conferences, and opportunities for engagement with government audiences, including supporting the creation of sessions at conferences and representing the organization externally.
  • Ability to update fundraising and communication collateral to incorporate new messaging for government partner audiences.
  • Authorized to work in the US or UK.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and as part of a team, including supporting knowledge sharing and active participation in institutional partnerships and development teams.

Benefits & Perks

Compensation/salary range in New York: $86,400 - $103,000 plus a performance-based bonus
