Job Description
The Paint Technician will apply protective paints to turbine engine components, ensuring proper surface preparation and adherence to quality standards. This role involves hands-on training and collaboration with experienced technicians to develop skills in paint application processes and equipment.
Responsibilities
- •Clean surfaces to be painted using solvents.
- •Set-up necessary fixtures for holding parts during painting.
- •Mix paint and load spray equipment according to manufacturer guidelines.
- •Perform spray test applications for proper mixture and equipment functioning.
- •Apply paint using spray gun equipment to non-masked areas of components.
- •Inspect components using white light part inspection criteria.
- •Remove masking materials as required.
- •Wipe off paint over-spray on non-painted areas.
- •Bake parts as required per procedure.
- •Clean all fixtures and spray equipment.
- •Inspect work for completion and quality.
- •Record necessary information on applicable documentation.
- •Use overhead cranes and support equipment for staging and preparation.
- •Load and unload completed paint components into curing ovens.
- •Perform surface preparation duties such as grit blasting and masking.
- •Perform final inspection of work as a certified final paint inspector.
Requirements
- •Two years minimum experience working in a manufacturing environment, with some experience in paint application in similar fields, such as autobody or a manufacturing environment.
- •Experience in the use of measuring devices such as scales, micrometers, and calipers.
- •Experience in reading shop drawings and work instructions and the documentation of work performed.
- •Previous experience in the operation of overhead cranes.
- •High school or technical school graduate or equivalent.
- •Read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- •Must be able to use hand tools and have good hand-eye coordination.
- •Ability to work independently and have the knowledge to perform the job with minimum supervision.
- •Move parts weighing up to 50 pounds using hoists, slings, carts, or other handling methods.
- •Pre-employment testing requirements that may require fitness for duty testing including respirator fit test and a vision exam.
- •Use of safety and personal protective equipment is mandatory under some conditions.
