Job Description
The Sales Engineer at Samsara will work at the intersection of cloud software and IoT technology, engaging with customers to provide technical solutions that enhance operational efficiency and safety in various industries. This role involves pre-sales activities, hardware installation, and building strong customer relationships while collaborating with sales teams to drive complex sales cycles.
Key Responsibilities
- Be a core member of the pre-sales team for North America's largest fleets and organizations.
- Partner with sales executives to plan and execute strategic deals in complex sales cycles.
- Match customer pain points and requirements to proposed solutions.
- Establish and maintain customer relationships throughout the sales cycle.
- Deploy and install hardware for proof of concepts.
- Set up SaaS dashboards and manage custom reporting via API.
- Mentor other Sales Engineers on the team.
- Provide technical knowledge and training to the team.
- Champion Samsara's cultural principles in global scaling efforts.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree from a 4 year accredited university.
- Minimum 8 years of customer-facing pre-sales experience.
- At least 3 years in enterprise sales.
- Deep understanding of APIs, security, cloud software, cloud connected hardware, automation, networking, and control systems.
- Proven ability to diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical systems in a maintenance shop environment.
- Experience leading complex projects and fostering a collaborative environment where stakeholders are empowered to achieve results.
- Ability to develop compelling financial models and business justifications to support recommendations.
- Ability to analyze customer requirements, prioritize feature requests, and champion collaboration between customers and product teams.
- Experience with hardware installation for POCs.
- Ability to travel frequently (50%), with close proximity to a major airport preferred.
