Job Description
A temporary painter helper responsible for preparing surfaces and applying coatings to structural components and equipment to ensure safety, durability, and appearance, primarily supporting facility expansion projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces for painting through cleaning, sanding, masking, grinding, and minor repairs
- Paint and touch up new structural components and equipment
- Apply coats of paint to heavy equipment such as forklifts and material handling equipment
- Follow paint specifications, safety procedures, and facility standards
- Complete paint reports and documentation
- Work safely around active shop, construction, and forklift traffic
Requirements
- Perform industrial painting and touch up work in support of facility expansion projects, including preparing surfaces and applying coatings to new structural components and equipment to maintain safety, durability, and appearance.
- Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, masking, grinding, and performing minor repairs.
- Paint and touch up new building structures including beams, racks, cranes, and supports.
- Apply new coats of paint to heavy equipment such as forklifts and material handling equipment.
- Follow paint specifications, safety procedures, and facility standards.
- Complete required paint reports and documentation.
- Work safely around active shop, construction, and forklift traffic with minimal supervision.
- Have industrial or commercial painting experience.
- Have experience with structural steel or equipment painting.
- Possess inorganic zinc or industrial coating experience.
- Ability to wear a full face respirator for extended periods.
- Ability to work independently and follow safety guidelines.
- Physical and mental ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, and work at varying heights.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Ability to work overtime as needed.
