Job Description

A Senior Quantity Surveyor responsible for leading planning, cost control, and technical coordination for maintenance and construction projects in industrial and chemical facilities, ensuring project delivery aligns with safety, budget, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead planning, development of work packs, and execution strategies for maintenance and construction projects.
  • Coordinate with engineering, fabrication, and project management teams to ensure project alignment.
  • Conduct site visits to validate project scopes and assess constructability.
  • Lead planning for shutdowns, retrofits, and complex installations.
  • Prepare estimates, Bills of Quantities, and material take-offs for cost control.
  • Support tendering, bid reviews, and contract negotiations.
  • Track budgets, analyze variances, and forecast project costs.
  • Manage change orders, claims, and commercial documentation.
  • Drive value engineering to optimize project costs and schedules.
  • Serve as a technical and commercial contact during early project stages and client meetings.
  • Communicate planning progress, cost impacts, and readiness to clients and internal teams.
  • Support internal reviews, risk assessments, and coordination meetings.
  • Mentor junior planners and cost analysts.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures and industry standards in planning, cost, and contract documentation.

Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or similar.
  • Significant experience in planning, Quantity Surveying, or project controls in industrial energy sectors.
  • Experience supporting field execution and client facing activities.
  • Proficiency with Primavera preferred, MS Project, and cost management tools.
  • Strong understanding of industrial equipment and construction methods.
  • Advanced estimating and commercial analysis skills.
  • Ability to interpret drawings, P IDs, and technical specifications.
  • Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30%.
  • Full UK driving licence.
