Job Description

The Saw Operator is responsible for cutting bend pipes, channels, and angles using hand, bench, and machine tools, while performing related fabrication tasks such as deburring, grinding, and polishing, in a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cut bend pipe, channel, and angle using hand, bench, and machine operations
  • Perform deburring, filing, grinding, and polishing on machined parts
  • Utilize measurement tools and interpret blueprints, work orders, and bills of materials
  • Configure bend allowances for sheet metal made of stainless steel, aluminum, and steel
  • Perform spot inspections and ensure parts meet tolerances and inspection requirements
  • Complete and maintain manufacturing paperwork
  • Understand and improve machine performance and output

Requirements

  • Competent use of hand, bench, and machine operations to perform deburring, filing, grinding, and polishing on machined parts.
  • Understanding of and ability to utilize a tape measure, squaring tools, electronic level, calipers, and micrometers.
  • Ability to understand tolerances for parts.
  • Ability to interpret work orders, blueprints, and bills of materials.
  • Ability to complete and maintain paperwork related to job duties.
  • Experience in a manufacturing setting involving operations such as brake roll press.
  • Prior fabrication experience.
  • Ability to read a tape measure.
  • Experience in configuring bend allowances for sheet metal made of stainless steel, aluminum, and regular steel.
  • Must possess strong leadership, analytical thinking, effective communication, and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with persons inside and outside of the company.
  • Must have the ability to perform mathematical calculations related to job requirements.
  • Must be able to work under stress.
  • Must be able to handle multiple priorities.
  • Must be able to process paperwork effectively.
  • Must be able to go up and down stairs.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively.
  • Must be able to do unaccompanied travel.
  • Must be able to tolerate shop environment and exposures associated with welding and industrial equipment manufacturing, and apply appropriate safety equipment when required.
  • Must be able to work overtime as required.
  • Must not present a risk of injury to self or others while engaged in company duties.
