A Project Manager Engineer responsible for planning, executing, and overseeing engineering projects related to plant equipment, ensuring scope, budget, and schedules are maintained, while coordinating technical, commercial, and quality aspects from design to delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, define, and oversee project scope, schedule, and budget throughout the project lifecycle.
Coordinate technical design, equipment selection, and drafting to meet customer specifications.
Monitor project progress, manage risks, and report on scope and budget status.
Maintain delivery schedules by coordinating drafting, purchasing, manufacturing, and quality control.
Manage project documentation, change orders, and customer correspondence.
Develop and track project budgets and prepare invoices for finance.
Assist in engineering design tasks, including creating drawings and detailed equipment layouts.
Ensure scope of supply is fully met without exceeding limits.
Requirements
A relevant Engineering degree
Minimum of 4 years of project engineering experience including plant selection, budget developments and control through the project lifecycle, quality control, change management, internal and external customer communications, from conceptual design through to delivery and installation
Experience in verifying equipment selection and design, performing coordinate calculations and sketches, and drafting for jobs to ensure all required drawings are completed
Ability to review customer mark-up prints and aid drafting for final approvals and shop release
Experience establishing and tracking the cost budget for jobs by working with the Sales Department and cost specialists
Ability to maintain delivery schedules based on customer requirements and company workloads, including coordination of drafting, purchasing, manufacturing, and quality control
Experience coordinating pre-ordered materials to meet delivery schedules
Involvement with Quality Control Department to ensure customer job specifications, ITP requirements, and exceptional customer or QC details are met
Experience coordinating all required technical and commercial correspondence related to the job, including internal and external communications with customers, end users, sales reps, and outside consultants
Experience maintaining change management processes, notifying sales and estimating departments of scope or design changes affecting price, and coordinating price revisions with customers
Ability to coordinate and update project documentation
Experience creating project invoices via Excel for finance
Ability to assist in designing and producing engineering drawings such as valve assemblies, electrical connection diagrams, P&ID's, and detailing equipment for manufacture, working from sketches, models, and verbal information
Proficiency utilizing computer-assisted drafting (CAD) systems to complete assignments
Ensuring scope of supply is fully met without exceeding it
Understanding of fabrication welding, ASME standards, PED, and related codes
Ability to review and ensure final packs meet customer requirements such as MDR and OM
Experience in risk analysis and managing risks and issues throughout the project
Ability to plan, activity sequence, and develop schedules for projects
Ability to review and verify equipment selection and perform necessary calculations and sketches to establish equipment design coordinates
Experience reviewing customer mark-up prints and aiding drafting for final approvals
Experience coordinating technical and commercial correspondence related to projects
Experience in change management, including notifying relevant departments of scope or design changes and coordinating price adjustments
Experience in project scope definition, planning, budgeting, monitoring, and overseeing all aspects of project execution
Understanding of fabrication welding, ASME standards, PED, and similar standards
Desirable: Background in combustion, burners, boilers, petrochemical, or refinery industries
Desirable: Site experience in relevant industries
