Job Description
The Project Manager Engineer is responsible for planning, executing, and overseeing engineering projects related to plant equipment, ensuring scope, budget, and schedules are maintained while coordinating technical, commercial, and quality aspects throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, define, and manage project scope, schedule, and budget throughout the project lifecycle.
- Coordinate and oversee equipment design, drafting, and technical calculations to ensure all drawings and specifications meet customer requirements.
- Monitor project progress, control costs, and track delivery schedules by collaborating with sales, manufacturing, and quality departments.
- Manage risk analysis, issue resolution, and change management related to project scope and design modifications.
- Communicate and coordinate technical and commercial correspondence with customers, end users, sales teams, and external consultants.
- Ensure compliance with quality control standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements.
- Create and maintain project documentation, including invoices, change orders, and technical reports.
- Assist in engineering design tasks such as producing drawings, diagrams, and equipment detailing using CAD systems.
Requirements
- A relevant Engineering degree.
- Minimum of 4 years of project engineering experience including plant selection, budget developments and control through the project lifecycle, quality control, change management, and internal and external customer communications from conceptual design through to delivery and installation.
- Experience in verifying equipment selection and design, performing coordinate calculations and sketches to establish equipment design coordinates, and drafting for jobs.
- Ability to review customer mark-up prints and aid drafting for final approvals and shop release.
- Experience establishing and tracking the cost budget for jobs by working with the Sales Department and cost specialists.
- Ability to maintain delivery schedules based on customer requirements and company workloads, including coordination of drafting, purchasing, manufacturing, and quality control.
- Experience coordinating pre-ordered materials to meet delivery schedules.
- Involvement with Quality Control Department regarding customer job specifications, Inspection Test Plan (ITP) requirements, and exceptional customer or QC details.
- Experience coordinating technical and commercial correspondence with internal teams, customers, end users, sales reps, and outside consultants.
- Experience managing change notifications related to scope of supply or design that affect pricing, and coordinating price revisions with customers.
- Ability to coordinate and update project documentation and create project invoices using Excel for finance.
- Experience assisting in designing and producing engineering drawings such as valve assemblies, electrical connection diagrams, P&IDs, and detailing equipment for manufacture.
- Proficiency in working from sketches, models, and verbal information supplied by sales engineering drafting to determine views, detailed drawings, and supplementary information needed to complete assignments.
- Skill in selecting required information from precedents and guides.
- Proficiency in utilizing computer-assisted drafting (CAD) systems to complete assignments.
- Ensuring scope of supply is fully met without exceeding it.
- Understanding of fabrication welding, ASME standards, PED, and related codes.
- Ability to review and ensure all required drawings and final packs meet customer requirements (MDR, OM as required).
