Job Description
The Crating Shipping Lead supports daily crating and shipping operations, coordinating logistics, inventory, and shipment tracking, while also leading work activities and assisting in the shop as needed. The role involves hands-on fabrication of wooden crates, reading blueprints, and operating equipment for loading and unloading shipments.
Key Responsibilities
- Support daily crating and shipping operations
- Coordinate logistics, inventory, and shipment tracking
- Fabricate wooden crates or boxes using woodworking tools
- Pack items, including large and odd-shaped products
- Read blueprints and shipping notices to determine crate specifications
- Inspect products to select appropriate container materials and supports
- Load and unload trucks using overhead crane, forklift, or pallet jack
Requirements
- Strong Excel skills and hands-on shop experience.
- Ability to lead work activities while actively assisting in the shop as needed.
- Experience in fabricating wooden crates or boxes using woodworking hand tools and powered tools.
- Ability to read blueprints, shipping notices, and other specifications.
- Experience in inspecting products to determine the size and shape of containers, materials to be used, and types of supports and braces.
- Experience in loading and unloading trucks using overhead cranes, forklifts, and pallet jacks.
