Job Description
The Water Wastewater Utility Technician is an entry-level role responsible for operating and maintaining water and wastewater systems, including pump stations, valves, piping, and meters, with opportunities for career growth in the utility field.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain wastewater collection and water distribution systems, including remote pump stations, valves, piping, lift stations, and water meters.
- Respond to emergency events and alarm call-outs as scheduled and when required.
- Work outdoors and support the protection of water resources.
- Participate in standby duty and be on-call during evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Utilize up-to-date technology and digital platforms to ensure efficient and compliant system operation.
Requirements
- Must be responsible for the operation and maintenance of wastewater collection and water distribution systems with remote pump station equipment, valves, piping, lift stations, and water meters.
- Must have the ability to work outdoors and protect water resources.
- This is an entry-level position with opportunities for upward mobility in the utility field.
- Must have reliable and dependable attendance as an essential function of the position.
- Must be available for standby duty and the ability to be on-call, working evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Must respond to emergency events and alarm call-outs as scheduled and when required.
- Must be flexible to work extended shifts to meet seasonal demands of water and wastewater systems.
- Must be able to work in a physically active environment, including working outdoors and handling equipment as necessary.
- Must be willing to learn and operate digital platforms and state-of-the-art technology used in water treatment processes.
- Must be able to work in compliance with standards to produce a safe, high-quality water product.
- Must be able to participate in ongoing training, including achieving treatment licenses and continuing education in the industry.
- Must be able to work in a team environment and support a respectful and inclusive workplace.
- Must be able to perform work that may involve physical demands such as lifting, bending, and working in various weather conditions.
- Must have the ability to work in accordance with company policies and safety procedures.

Work schedule: Monday-Thursday, 7am-5:30pm or Tuesday-Friday, 7am-5:30pm with flexibility and extended shifts
