Job Description

The Water Wastewater Project Manager oversees the daily operations, maintenance, and regulatory compliance of a municipal water treatment and distribution system, leading a team, managing projects, and coordinating with stakeholders to ensure system efficiency and safety.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and supervise daily operations and maintenance of the drinking water treatment and distribution system.
Oversee regulatory sampling programs to ensure compliance and safety.
Coordinate and communicate with staff, clients, regulators, contractors, and engineering firms.
Implement and manage predictive maintenance programs and oversee routine and capital repair projects.
Respond to emergency situations, process upsets, equipment failures, and alarm events.
Prepare reports for regulators, clients, and the firm.
Manage project budget, scope, and schedule, serving as the main point of contact between the client and the firm.

Requirements

Serve as the System's Chief Designated Operator and be responsible for the day-to-day management and supervision of the operational and maintenance activities of the department's drinking water treatment and distribution system.
Oversee a team of 5 staff members and manage the daily operation, maintenance, and compliance of the Adelanto Public Utility Authority systems, including managing all associated regulatory sampling programs in a safe and timely manner.
Ensure the system maintains 100% compliance through daily process monitoring and a comprehensive maintenance system.
Coordinate and communicate effectively with operations staff, client representatives, regulators, contractors, and engineering firms to ensure effective system operation and optimization.
Implement and manage an innovative predictive maintenance management program.
Administer and implement all routine and capital repair and replacement projects.
Respond to emergency situations, process upsets, equipment failures, force majeure events, alarm events, and work in inclement weather as needed.
Prepare reports regularly for regulators, clients, and the firm.
Manage the project budget, scope, and schedule of contractual obligations.
Serve as the main point of contact between the client and the firm.
Work comfortably in a self-directed environment with minimal daily supervision, with supervision provided by an Area Manager.
Follow established safety, operating, and emergency response procedures to perform work in a safe and professional manner.
Participate in an on-call rotation for plant coverage outside normal work hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Respond to emergency events and alarm call-outs as scheduled and required.
Availability for standby duty and the ability to be on-call, working evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Possess relevant education and experience in water treatment and distribution systems (implied, typically a minimum of a relevant degree or equivalent experience in water/wastewater operations).
Possess or be able to obtain relevant certifications within the industry (implied, such as Water Treatment Operator Certification, Water Distribution Operator Certification, or equivalent).
Demonstrate physical ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Demonstrate reliable and dependable attendance as an essential function of the position.
