Job Description

The Water and Wastewater O M Project Manager oversees the daily operations, maintenance, and compliance of a water and wastewater utility, coordinating with staff, contractors, and regulatory agencies to ensure efficient system performance and emergency response.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee daily operations of the water and wastewater utility
  • Coordinate and communicate with operations, clients, contractors, and engineering firms
  • Ensure effective system operation and optimization
  • Develop and manage staff, including staff development and training
  • Implement and oversee predictive maintenance programs
  • Administer and execute routine and capital repair and replacement projects
  • Respond to emergencies such as process upsets, equipment failures, and alarm events

Requirements

  • Possess the following NJ Department of Environmental Protection licenses: S-3 Wastewater Treatment, T-3 Water Treatment, C-3 Wastewater Collections, and W-3 Water Distribution.
  • Experience in managing and overseeing the day-to-day operations of a water and wastewater utility serving approximately 20,000 customers.
  • Ability to coordinate and communicate effectively with operations staff, client representatives, contractors, and engineering firms.
  • Work closely with all parties to ensure effective system operation and optimization.
  • Implement and manage an innovative predictive maintenance management program.
  • Administer and implement all routine and capital repair and replacement projects.
  • Respond to emergency situations including process upsets, equipment failures, force majeure events, and alarm events.
  • Follow established safety, operating, and emergency response procedures to perform work in a safe and professional manner.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation for plant coverage outside normal work hours, including weekends, and respond to emergency situations as needed.
  • Work in inclement weather conditions as required.
  • Work Monday through Friday, from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM.
