Job Description

The Water and Wastewater Operations and Maintenance Project Manager oversees the daily operations, staff management, and system optimization of a water and wastewater utility serving approximately 20,000 customers, ensuring compliance, emergency response, and project implementation in a collaborative and safety-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee daily operations of water and wastewater utility systems
  • Coordinate and communicate with operations, clients, contractors, and engineering firms
  • Ensure effective system operation and optimization
  • Develop and manage staff, including staff development and training
  • Implement and oversee predictive maintenance programs
  • Administer and execute routine and capital repair and replacement projects
  • Respond to emergency situations such as process upsets, equipment failures, and alarm events

Requirements

  • Possess the following NJ Department of Environmental Protection licenses: S-3 Wastewater Treatment, T-3 Water Treatment, C-3 Wastewater Collections, and W-3 Water Distribution.
  • Manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of a water and wastewater utility serving approximately 20,000 customers.
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with operations staff, client representatives, contractors, and engineering firms.
  • Ensure effective system operation and optimization, staff development, and implementation and management of predictive maintenance programs.
  • Administer and implement all routine and capital repair and replacement projects.
  • Respond to emergency situations including process upsets, equipment failures, alarm events, and force majeure events.
  • Work in a safe and professional manner by following established safety, operating, and emergency response procedures.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation for plant coverage outside normal work hours, including weekends, and respond to emergency situations as needed.
  • Work in inclement weather conditions when required.
  • Schedule work Monday through Friday from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM.
