Job Description
The PLC SCADA Controls Technician supports, maintains, and repairs industrial electrical and control systems for water and wastewater treatment facilities, ensuring system reliability through troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and system upgrades in a hybrid work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support, maintain, and repair industrial electrical and electronic control systems.
- Troubleshoot PLC, instrumentation, radio telemetry, HMI, and motor control systems.
- Perform on-site troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, system upgrades, and emergency response at client facilities.
- Work safely on live control panels following NFPA 70E protocols and wearing appropriate PPE.
- Travel regionally to client sites for scheduled service visits and urgent repairs.
Requirements
- Support, maintain, and repair industrial electrical and electronic control systems, including PLC, SCADA, instrumentation, radio telemetry, OIT HMI, and motor control systems.
- Possess strong electrical and PLC troubleshooting skills.
- Work independently and collaboratively with Maintenance Technicians, Production Engineers, Operators Supervisors, and Contractors.
- Be a hands-on, customer-facing Field Service Technician with experience in field instrumentation, radio telemetry, OIT HMI, PLC troubleshooting, and motor control.
- Be physically able to lift and carry 40 lbs repeatedly.
- Be comfortable working from heights using ladders, scissor lifts, platforms, and in confined spaces.
- Be able to safely work on live control panels while wearing proper arc flash PPE and following NFPA 70E protocols.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license with no major infractions.
- Maintain a valid REAL ID driver’s license or other TSA-approved identification.
- Travel regionally to client facilities typically within driving distance for on-site troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, system upgrades, emergency response, and scheduled service visits, with regional travel up to 50-70% mostly day trips, and occasional overnight stays depending on call-out needs and multi-day service work.
