Job Description
The Project Health Safety Specialist is responsible for providing guidance on health and safety compliance, conducting audits and risk assessments, implementing safety programs, and developing site-specific training to promote a culture of safety at project sites within an engineering and environmental firm.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide guidance and assistance to internal clients regarding health and safety compliance requirements
- Conduct task observations and compliance audits at project sites
- Assess health safety needs and risks
- Implement safety programs and policies
- Develop and deliver site-specific safety training
- Create systems, procedures, and tools to support safety program implementation
- Promote and champion a culture of health and safety at project sites
Requirements
- Possess a Health Safety or related applied science degree with several years of field experience.
- Experience in providing guidance and assistance to internal clients regarding regulatory and company compliance requirements related to health and safety.
- Ability to perform task observations and compliance auditing at project sites.
- Ability to assess health safety needs and risks on projects.
- Experience in driving the implementation of safety programs and policies.
- Experience in developing and delivering site-specific safety training.
- Ability to assist in creating systems, procedures, and tools necessary to effectively implement corporate safety programs and policies at the project level.
- Ability to work closely with the Senior Operations Management Safety Manager and Operations Management Health Safety Specialists.
- The role will be tailored to the candidate's experience and strengths, implying the need for relevant experience in health and safety roles.
