Job Description

The Project Health Safety Specialist is responsible for providing guidance on health and safety compliance, conducting audits and risk assessments, implementing safety programs, and developing site-specific training to promote a culture of safety at project sites within an engineering and environmental firm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance and assistance to internal clients regarding health and safety compliance requirements
  • Conduct task observations and compliance audits at project sites
  • Assess health safety needs and risks
  • Implement safety programs and policies
  • Develop and deliver site-specific safety training
  • Create systems, procedures, and tools to support safety program implementation
  • Promote and champion a culture of health and safety at project sites

Requirements

  • Possess a Health Safety or related applied science degree with several years of field experience.
  • Experience in providing guidance and assistance to internal clients regarding regulatory and company compliance requirements related to health and safety.
  • Ability to perform task observations and compliance auditing at project sites.
  • Ability to assess health safety needs and risks on projects.
  • Experience in driving the implementation of safety programs and policies.
  • Experience in developing and delivering site-specific safety training.
  • Ability to assist in creating systems, procedures, and tools necessary to effectively implement corporate safety programs and policies at the project level.
  • Ability to work closely with the Senior Operations Management Safety Manager and Operations Management Health Safety Specialists.
  • The role will be tailored to the candidate's experience and strengths, implying the need for relevant experience in health and safety roles.
