The Plant Manager oversees the daily operations of a wastewater treatment facility, ensuring system efficiency, regulatory compliance, staff development, and emergency response, while coordinating with various stakeholders and managing routine and capital projects.
Key Responsibilities
Manage day-to-day operations of the wastewater treatment facility
Coordinate and communicate with operations, clients, contractors, and engineering firms
Ensure system operation and optimization for compliance and efficiency
Oversee compliance reporting and staff development
Implement and manage asset management, repair, and replacement projects
Respond to emergency situations such as process upsets, equipment failures, and alarm events
Requirements
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent; a degree in environmental engineering, civil engineering, or a related field is preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience managing wastewater treatment facilities or similar operations.
Experience in managing day-to-day operational activities of a wastewater treatment plant.
Ability to coordinate and communicate effectively with operations staff, client representatives, contractors, and engineering firms.
Proven experience in ensuring compliance reporting for wastewater treatment operations.
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement staff development programs.
Experience in managing and administering an asset management program for wastewater treatment facilities.
Ability to oversee and manage routine and capital repair and replacement projects at a wastewater treatment plant.
Experience in emergency response management for process upsets, equipment failures, alarm events, and force majeure events.
Work in a safe and professional manner by following established safety, operating, and emergency response procedures.
Availability to participate in an on-call rotation outside normal work hours, including weekends, to respond to emergency situations and plant coverage needs.
Willingness to work in inclement weather conditions as needed.
Ability to respond to emergency situations on an as-needed basis outside of scheduled hours.
Strong communication skills for coordination with multiple parties involved in plant operations.
Physical ability to work in various weather conditions and respond to emergency situations as required.

Work schedule: Monday - Friday, 7.30am - 3.30pm, with on-call rotation including weekends and emergency response
