Job Description

The Plant Manager oversees the daily operations of a wastewater treatment facility, ensuring system efficiency, regulatory compliance, staff development, and emergency response, while coordinating with various stakeholders and managing routine and capital projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the wastewater treatment facility
  • Coordinate and communicate with operations, clients, contractors, and engineering firms
  • Ensure system operation and optimization for compliance and efficiency
  • Oversee compliance reporting and staff development
  • Implement and manage asset management, repair, and replacement projects
  • Respond to emergency situations such as process upsets, equipment failures, and alarm events

Requirements

  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent; a degree in environmental engineering, civil engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing wastewater treatment facilities or similar operations.
  • Experience in managing day-to-day operational activities of a wastewater treatment plant.
  • Ability to coordinate and communicate effectively with operations staff, client representatives, contractors, and engineering firms.
  • Proven experience in ensuring compliance reporting for wastewater treatment operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement staff development programs.
  • Experience in managing and administering an asset management program for wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Ability to oversee and manage routine and capital repair and replacement projects at a wastewater treatment plant.
  • Experience in emergency response management for process upsets, equipment failures, alarm events, and force majeure events.
  • Work in a safe and professional manner by following established safety, operating, and emergency response procedures.
  • Availability to participate in an on-call rotation outside normal work hours, including weekends, to respond to emergency situations and plant coverage needs.
  • Willingness to work in inclement weather conditions as needed.
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations on an as-needed basis outside of scheduled hours.
  • Strong communication skills for coordination with multiple parties involved in plant operations.
  • Physical ability to work in various weather conditions and respond to emergency situations as required.

Compensation/salary range not specified
Work schedule: Monday - Friday, 7.30am - 3.30pm, with on-call rotation including weekends and emergency response
