Job Description
The Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a wastewater treatment facility, ensuring compliance, system optimization, staff development, and managing emergency responses, while coordinating with clients, contractors, and engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day operational activities of the wastewater treatment facility
- Coordinate and communicate with operations, client representatives, contractors, and engineering firms
- Ensure system operation and optimization, compliance reporting, and emergency response
- Oversee staff development and implement asset management programs
- Administer and execute routine and capital repair and replacement projects
- Respond to emergency situations such as process upsets, equipment failures, and alarm events
Requirements
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent; additional technical or college education related to wastewater treatment is preferred.
- Have a minimum of 3 years of experience managing wastewater treatment facilities or similar operations.
- Demonstrate experience in managing day-to-day operational activities of a wastewater treatment plant.
- Have experience coordinating and communicating with operations staff, client representatives, contractors, and engineering firms.
- Be capable of ensuring effective system operation and optimization of wastewater treatment processes.
- Have experience preparing and submitting compliance reporting for wastewater treatment operations.
- Possess experience in staff development and training within a wastewater treatment setting.
- Have experience in implementing and managing an asset management program for wastewater facilities.
- Be able to administer and oversee routine and capital repair and replacement projects at a wastewater treatment plant.
- Have experience responding to emergency situations such as process upsets, equipment failures, alarm events, and force majeure events.
- Work in a safe and professional manner following established safety, operating, and emergency response procedures.
- Be available to participate in an on-call rotation outside normal work hours, including weekends, to respond to emergency situations.
- Be physically capable of working in inclement weather conditions as needed.
- Possess knowledge of safety, operating, and emergency response procedures relevant to wastewater treatment operations.
- Be able to work Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 3:30 pm, with flexibility for shifts outside normal hours as part of on-call duties.
