Job Description

The Maintenance Mechanic - Night Shift is responsible for operating and maintaining a wastewater treatment plant, performing process monitoring, adjustments, and basic mechanical repairs on equipment such as pumps and valves, primarily working outdoors during overnight hours on a rotating schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain the wastewater treatment plant and its equipment
  • Monitor and adjust process parameters to ensure efficient treatment
  • Perform basic mechanical repairs on pumps, compressors, valves, and related equipment
  • Participate in daily operations and maintenance activities as directed by the plant manager
  • Respond to emergency situations and work in inclement weather as needed
  • Work on a rotating schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays

Requirements

  • Possess the ability to perform basic mechanical repairs on pumps, compressors, valves, and other equipment as part of the operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment plant.
  • Participate in the daily operations and maintenance of the wastewater treatment facility as directed by the plant manager.
  • Work in an on-call rotation for plant coverage outside normal workday hours, including responding to emergency situations and working in inclement weather as needed.
  • Be available to work the scheduled shift from 6:00 pm to 4:00 am, typically on a schedule of 8 days on followed by 6 days off, with weekdays being 10-hour days and weekends, holidays being 12-hour days.
  • Have the physical ability to work outdoors and in various weather conditions, including inclement weather.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent (implied requirement for operational roles).

Work schedule: 8 on 6 off, 6:00pm to 4:00am, Tuesday through following Tuesday, with 10-hour weekday shifts and 12-hour weekend/holiday shifts
