Job Description
A Grade 2 Wastewater Treatment Operator is responsible for monitoring and operating wastewater treatment plant equipment, regulating flows, assisting with laboratory testing, and performing maintenance to ensure efficient and compliant wastewater processing at a community plant.
Key Responsibilities
- Control the processing of wastewater and effluent
- Regulate influent and effluent flows within the system
- Monitor the operation of wastewater treatment plant equipment
- Assist with basic laboratory testing and sample collection
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on plant equipment
Requirements
- Possess a minimum of a Grade 2 Wastewater Treatment Operator certification or equivalent industry certification.
- Ability to learn and perform a variety of operational duties to control the processing of wastewater and effluent, including regulating influent and effluent flows within the system.
- Monitor the operation of a variety of wastewater treatment plant equipment.
- Assist with basic laboratory testing and sample collection related to wastewater treatment.
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance in support of the wastewater treatment plant.
- Work under the direct or general supervision of the Lead Operator and Plant Manager.
- Schedule: Work five 8-hour shifts from 6am to 2:30pm, Monday through Friday, after onboarding and training.
- Be required to work rotating standby on call, including weekends, with a stipend of $200 for on-call time.
- Possess the physical ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, protecting natural water resources.
- Have the ability to work in a team environment and follow safety protocols and operational procedures.
- Demonstrate a commitment to safety, compliance, and environmental regulations relevant to wastewater treatment operations.
