The Collection Systems Operations Chief oversees the daily operations, maintenance, and management of collection system facilities, ensuring regulatory compliance, effective system performance, and team leadership in a field and administrative capacity.
Key Responsibilities
Manage daily operations and maintenance of collection system facilities in compliance with regulations
Schedule and direct staff in the operation and maintenance of facilities
Develop and oversee the capital budget and execute capital projects
Complete and submit required regulatory reports, including Monthly Operating Reports (MORs)
Maintain accurate records and utilize work management systems
Coordinate and communicate with staff, clients, contractors, and engineering firms to ensure system optimization
Perform hands-on operational tasks and produce necessary reports
Obtain samples for analysis and ensure proper facility coverage
Train and mentor operators to enhance their performance
Requirements
Possess a minimum Florida Class B collections certification, with a Florida Class A certification preferred.
Have experience participating in and managing the daily operations and maintenance of collection system facilities in compliance with all Federal, State, and local regulations.
Be capable of scheduling staff and providing appropriate direction to staff in the operation and maintenance of collection system facilities.
Have experience developing and managing the capital budget and executing capital projects related to collection systems.
Oversee payroll, ensure proper facility coverage, and conduct employee evaluations.
Obtain samples for analysis and maintain accurate records related to collection system operations.
Maintain an open and effective relationship with customers and the community.
Be responsible for completing, submitting, and ensuring the accuracy of Monthly Operating Reports (MORs) to the city of Bradenton.
Utilize the Hach Wims CMMS system to create specific MORs and other required regulatory reports for submission as needed.
Maintain records and utilize the work management system for operational documentation.
Perform hands-on work related to collection system operations and maintenance.
Coordinate and communicate effectively with assigned staff, client representatives, contractors, and engineering firms to ensure system operation and optimization.
Ensure compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and local regulations in collection system operations.
Develop and execute the capital budget and oversee related projects.
Ensure proper facility coverage and conduct employee evaluations.
Obtain samples for analysis as required for regulatory compliance.
Maintain accurate operational records.
Train and mentor operators to perform at their full potential.
Work in outdoor environments and protect natural water resources.
Possess a minimum of Florida Class B collections certification, with a preference for a Florida Class A certification.
Be involved in day-to-day operations, maintenance, and management of collection system facilities.
Maintain close communication with clients and other stakeholders.
Perform all required reports and coordinate daily utility system operations.
