Job Description

The Assistant Plant Operations Manager oversees the daily operations, maintenance, and management of water and wastewater treatment facilities, leading a team of employees, coordinating with clients and contractors, and ensuring system efficiency and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations, maintenance, and management of water and wastewater treatment facilities
  • Supervise and coordinate a staff of 19 employees in operational and maintenance activities
  • Maintain close communication with clients, contractors, engineering firms, and staff
  • Ensure effective system operation and optimization of utility systems
  • Perform hands-on operational work and produce required reports
  • Coordinate the ongoing daily operation of the utility system

Requirements

  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and the ability to perform hands-on work at water and wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Experience in the day-to-day operations, maintenance, and management of water and wastewater treatment facilities, collections, and distribution systems.
  • Ability to oversee and manage a staff of 19 employees involved in water and wastewater treatment operations, maintenance, collections, distribution, and customer service duties.
  • Proven experience in coordinating and communicating effectively with staff, client representatives, contractors, and engineering firms to ensure system operation and optimization.
  • Ability to produce all required reports related to water and wastewater operations.
  • Experience in coordinating the ongoing daily operation of utility systems.
  • Demonstrated skills in administrative duties related to water and wastewater treatment plant management.
  • Willingness to perform hands-on work as required in the operational environment.
  • Knowledge of industry licenses and certifications, with a commitment to earning, upgrading, and maintaining relevant licenses and certifications (industry reimbursement program implied).
