Job Description
The Policy Associate, Power supports grant administration, manages relationships with grantees and partners, and assists in executing strategies related to clean energy policy and projects within a dynamic, remote-first environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full grant cycle, including proposal review, compliance, and approval processes.
- Process proposals, reports, grants, contracts, invoices, and reimbursements in the tracking system.
- Conduct due diligence on proposals and prospective grantees, including engaging with applicants and requesting revisions.
- Research and solicit proposals from potential new grantees.
- Coordinate meetings with grantees, consultants, and funders, and prepare materials for these meetings.
- Support program budgets, reconcile budgets to actuals, and track financial information.
- Foster internal team coordination and support collaboration using tools like Asana and Slack.
- Prepare drafts of documents, presentations, and reports for internal and external audiences.
- Represent EF and the Power program at meetings, conferences, and events.
- Support regional and state-wide meetings, including developing agendas and presentations.
- Build and maintain relationships with grantees, partners, and national groups.
- Generate ideas for improving systems, programs, and operations.
- Train new employees on grantmaking processes.
Requirements

- Proficient at handling multiple demands and supporting multiple priorities and tasks for one or more individuals in a team environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in customer service and ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment and prioritize competing obligations.
- Interest in one or more of the following areas: the philanthropic sector, the non-profit sector, issue campaigns, public policy, strategic communications, or renewable energy and the electric grid.
- Experience supporting grantmaking processes, including overseeing the full grant cycle from proposal development and application to compliance review and organizational approval.
- Ability to independently and accurately process proposals, reports, grants, contracts, invoices, and reimbursements in the grants tracking system.
- Ability to review grant proposals to ensure content is complete and appropriate, and verify that all required documents are included.
- Experience conducting due diligence on proposals and prospective grantees, engaging directly with grantees and consultants to address questions, gather additional information, and request revisions as necessary.
- Ability to research and solicit proposals from potential new grantees with minimal assistance.
- Experience managing program budgets and reconciling budgets to actuals for cross-programmatic grants.
- Ability to prepare and coordinate meetings, including circulating materials, flagging relevant questions, coordinating agendas, and setting clear expectations for meeting outcomes.
- Experience preparing drafts of documents and presentations for internal and external audiences, such as board dockets, funder reports, proposals, and presentations.
- Ability to serve as a liaison to other teams to ensure full integration of the program with other organizational programs.
- Experience facilitating networking and information-sharing between diverse grantees and consultants, and supporting regional and state-wide meetings and convenings.
- Willingness and ability to represent the organization at meetings, conferences, and other events as agreed upon with supervisor.
- Ability to generate and implement ideas for improving systems, programs, and operations.
- Experience training new employees on grantmaking or related processes.
- Ability to develop a personal learning and development plan and seek professional growth opportunities such as networking, training, and projects.

- Ability to travel two to four times a year for three to four business days at a time.
- Ability to spend extended hours at the computer performing essential job functions.
- Ability to work in a remote-first environment, with flexibility to work from any location within the U.S.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Google Drive, Docs, and Sheets; experience with cloud-based relational database systems such as Salesforce is a plus.

Competitive salary ranging from $84,600 to $93,600 depending on location
