Job Description
The Policy Associate, Power supports grant administration, manages relationships with grantees and partners, and assists in executing strategies related to clean energy policy and projects within a dynamic, remote-first environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full grant cycle, including proposal development, review, compliance, and approval.
- Process proposals, reports, grants, contracts, invoices, and reimbursements in the tracking system.
- Conduct due diligence on proposals and prospective grantees, engaging directly to gather information and request revisions.
- Research and solicit proposals from potential new grantees.
- Coordinate and facilitate meetings with grantees, consultants, funders, and partners.
- Support program budgets, reconcile budgets to actuals, and manage financial documentation.
- Foster internal team coordination, support collaboration tools, and prepare internal and external documents.
- Represent EF and the Power program at meetings, conferences, and events.
- Build and maintain relationships with grantees, consultants, and external organizations.
- Support regional and state-wide meetings, develop presentations, and assist with campaign and communication projects.
Requirements

- Proficient at handling multiple demands, supporting multiple priorities, and juggling a variety of tasks for one or more individuals in a team environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in customer service and ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment and prioritize competing obligations.
- Interest in one or more of the following areas: the philanthropic sector, the non-profit sector, issue campaigns, public policy, strategic communications, or renewable energy and the electric grid.
- Experience supporting grantmaking processes, including overseeing the full grant cycle from proposal development and application to compliance review and organizational approval.
- Ability to independently and accurately process proposals, reports, grants, contracts, invoices, and reimbursements in the grants tracking system.
- Ability to review grant proposals to ensure content is complete and appropriate, and verify that all required documents are included.
- Experience conducting due diligence on proposals and prospective grantees, engaging directly with grantees and consultants to address questions, gather additional information, and request revisions as necessary.
- Ability to research and solicit proposals from potential new grantees with minimal assistance.
- Experience collecting, tracking, and synthesizing grantee insights for use in reports.
- Ability to prepare materials and assist in meetings with grantees, consultants, and funders, including circulating materials, flagging relevant questions, coordinating agendas, and setting clear expectations for meeting outcomes.
- Experience managing program budgets and reconciling budgets to actuals for cross-programmatic grants.
- Ability to foster effective coordination and integration within teams, including using collaboration tools such as Asana, Slack, and supporting regular team check-ins.
- Experience scheduling calls and meetings, handling meeting logistics, preparing agendas, and supporting meeting follow-up.
- Ability to prepare drafts of documents and presentations for internal and external audiences, such as board dockets, funder reports, proposals, and presentations.
- Experience serving as a liaison to other teams to ensure program integration.
- Ability to facilitate networking and information-sharing between diverse grantees and consultants, and support regional and state-wide meetings and convenings, including developing presentations and agendas.
- Willingness to represent EF and the Power Program at meetings, conferences, and other events, as agreed upon with supervisor.
- Ability to generate and implement ideas for improving systems, programs, and operations.
- Ability to maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues, contributing to a positive and inclusive work environment.
- Experience training new employees on grantmaking processes.
- Willingness to develop a personal learning and development plan and seek professional growth opportunities, including networking, informational interviews, training, and projects.
- Ability to uphold EF’s commitment to equity, integrating these values into internal and external work.
- Ability to travel two to four times a year for three to four business days at a time.
- Physical ability to spend extended hours at the computer.
- Ability to work in a remote-first environment, with flexibility to work from any location in the U.S.
- Moderate levels of domestic travel capability.

Competitive salary range: $84,600 to $93,600 depending on location
