Job Description
The Staff Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing journal entries, supporting month-end close processes, and assisting with financial reporting, compliance, and analysis within a dynamic finance team.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries for accounting transactions
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts such as cash, receivables, payables, and liabilities
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
- Support the preparation of financial statements and reports
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements
- Support tax filings including sales, property, and income taxes
- Analyze financial data to improve operational efficiency and cost management
Requirements
- Prepare and post journal entries for various accounting transactions, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including cash, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and accrued liabilities.
- Assist in the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Support the preparation of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis for departmental and company-wide financials.
- Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Support tax filings, including sales tax, property tax, and income tax compliance.
- Analyze financial data and provide insights to improve operational efficiency and cost management.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Perform ad-hoc financial analysis and other duties as needed by the Accounting Manager or Finance Director.
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Have at least 2 years of experience in accounting, with a solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar, and Microsoft Excel.
- Have a strong understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and financial regulations.
- Demonstrate excellent attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate financial records.
- Possess strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Have effective communication skills to interact with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
