Job Description
The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing journal entries, supporting month-end and year-end close processes, and assisting with financial reporting, audits, and compliance within a dynamic finance team.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and timely financial records
- Prepare and post journal entries for accounting transactions
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts such as cash, receivables, payables, and liabilities
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
- Support the preparation of financial statements and reports
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Provide documentation and explanations for internal and external audits
- Support tax filings including sales, property, and income taxes
- Analyze financial data to improve operational efficiency and cost management
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and regulations
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- At least 4 years of experience in accounting, with a solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Strong understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and financial regulations
- Ability to prepare and post journal entries for various accounting transactions, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Ability to reconcile balance sheet accounts, including cash, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and accrued liabilities
- Experience assisting in month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
- Experience supporting the preparation of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
- Experience assisting with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis for departmental and company-wide financials
- Experience assisting with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations
- Experience supporting tax filings, including sales tax, property tax, and income tax compliance
- Ability to analyze financial data and provide insights to improve operational efficiency and cost management
- Ability to ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate financial records
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines
- Effective communication skills to interact with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
