Job Description

The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing journal entries, supporting month-end and year-end close processes, and assisting with financial reporting, audits, and compliance within a dynamic finance team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and timely financial records
  • Prepare and post journal entries for accounting transactions
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts such as cash, receivables, payables, and liabilities
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
  • Support the preparation of financial statements and reports
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Provide documentation and explanations for internal and external audits
  • Support tax filings including sales, property, and income taxes
  • Analyze financial data to improve operational efficiency and cost management
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and regulations

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • At least 4 years of experience in accounting, with a solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and financial regulations
  • Ability to prepare and post journal entries for various accounting transactions, ensuring accuracy and completeness
  • Ability to reconcile balance sheet accounts, including cash, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and accrued liabilities
  • Experience assisting in month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
  • Experience supporting the preparation of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
  • Experience assisting with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis for departmental and company-wide financials
  • Experience assisting with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations
  • Experience supporting tax filings, including sales tax, property tax, and income tax compliance
  • Ability to analyze financial data and provide insights to improve operational efficiency and cost management
  • Ability to ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate financial records
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Effective communication skills to interact with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
