Job Description
The Real Estate Counsel - Renewables will lead and support the origination, negotiation, and closing of renewable energy real estate transactions across the U.S., providing strategic legal advice and managing due diligence for solar and wind projects while working remotely.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the origination and closing of renewable energy real estate assets in the U.S.
- Manage a pipeline of deals and facilitate communication among legal, origination, pricing, and management teams
- Negotiate and draft documents for commercial real estate transactions
- Oversee due diligence and underwriting of assets for lease terms, cash flow, and operational information
- Advise on strategic transactions and commercial matters related to renewable energy real estate
Requirements
- 5-10 years of experience as a commercial real estate attorney at a mid to large-sized law firm and in-house at a renewable energy developer
- Deep knowledge of the financing, development, and operation of solar and wind facilities
- Juris Doctor degree and bar admission in good standing in at least one U.S. state
- Fluency with technology and remote work capabilities
- Ability to support the origination and closing of renewable energy real estate assets in the United States
- Experience in managing a pipeline of deals across the United States and facilitating dialogue between pricing, origination, legal, and management teams
- Experience negotiating and drafting documents for commercial real estate transactions
- Experience overseeing due diligence activities and underwriting assets for lease terms, projected cash flow, and operator, offtaker, and facility information
- Demonstrated success in executing business strategy, accelerating a pipeline of transactions to closing, and exercising sound judgment to assess and manage portfolio risk
