A Research Scientist position focused on advancing computer vision and multi-modal learning for robotics, aiming to develop foundation models that enable robots to understand and operate effectively in complex, unstructured environments through innovative research and real-world testing.
Key Responsibilities
Propose, conduct, and transfer innovative research in computer vision and related fields.
Utilize large-scale sensory data, both real and synthetic, to address open scientific problems.
Train and evaluate models at scale for dynamic scene understanding and robot perception.
Publish research findings in top academic venues.
Test and validate models and algorithms in real-world robotic environments.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to transfer successful models toward autonomous systems and assistance technologies.
Requirements
Expertise in Video Generation, Spatio-temporal Representation Learning, World Models, Foundation Models, Multi-Modal Learning, Vision-as-Inverse-Graphics including Differentiable Rendering, or related fields, to improve dynamic scene understanding for robots.
Proven experience working with large amounts of sensory data, both real and synthetic, to address open scientific and engineering problems.
Experience in training models at scale for research and application purposes.
Ability to propose, conduct, and transfer innovative research in the field of computer vision and robotics.
Strong publication record in top academic venues related to computer vision, robotics, or machine learning (e.g., CVPR, ICCV, NeurIPS, ICLR).
Ability to test and validate research ideas in real-world environments, including on robotic platforms.
Excellent collaboration skills to work closely with multidisciplinary teams at TRI for transferring and deploying algorithms and models.
Educational background in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or related disciplines, with a focus on research-level knowledge.
Physical and cognitive ability to work with complex scientific tools, datasets, and robotic systems as required for research activities.
