Job Description

A Research Scientist in Computer Vision at Toyota Research Institute focusing on developing foundation models and advanced perception techniques to enhance dynamic scene understanding and autonomous robot capabilities in unstructured environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct innovative research in computer vision, focusing on Video Generation, Spatio-temporal Representation Learning, World Models, and Multi-Modal Learning.
  • Utilize large-scale sensory data, both real and synthetic, to develop and train models addressing open scientific problems.
  • Test and validate models in real-world robotic environments to improve dynamic scene understanding and autonomous capabilities.

Requirements

  • Experience working with large amounts of sensory data, both real and synthetic, to address open problems and train models at scale.
  • Proven ability to propose, conduct, and transfer innovative research in the field of computer vision and related areas.
  • Strong publication record in top academic venues demonstrating research contributions.
  • Ability to test research ideas in real-world settings, including on robotic platforms.
  • Experience working closely with multidisciplinary teams to transfer and ship algorithms and models towards long-term autonomy and advanced assistance systems.
  • Educational background in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or related disciplines (implied by research scientist role, though specific degree requirements are not explicitly stated).
