The Human Interactive Driving Intern will work on developing and testing advanced driving simulation technologies, focusing on integrating generative AI with human factors research to improve safety systems and driver training tools through hands-on coding, experimentation, and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
Test and deploy software on the physical driving simulation platform
Create working code prototypes for research purposes
Design and conduct validation experiments
Collaborate with team members on research activities
Generate novel driving courses based on driver skill levels and performance
Participate in writing and publishing research findings
Requirements
Work on a physical simulation system and test and deploy software on the platform as part of the internship responsibilities.
Create working code prototypes related to driving simulation and AI research.
Interact frequently with team members to collaborate on research and development tasks.
Design validation experiments to evaluate the developed systems or prototypes.
Participate in writing a research paper describing the findings and publishing the work.
Be enrolled in or have completed a relevant educational program in a field such as computer science, robotics, AI, mechanical or electrical engineering, or related disciplines.
Possess the ability to work hands-on with physical simulation systems and software development tools.
Have the skills to transfer code between systems or environments as needed for research purposes.
Be available for a 12-week summer internship starting in Summer 2026, with the internship being a paid position.
Be able to work in a hybrid in-office role at the Los Altos HQ location, including testing and deploying software on the physical driving simulator platform.
Possess the ability to work in the United States, with consideration of location-specific pay ranges (California-based roles between $45 and $65 per hour, Massachusetts-based roles between $40 and $58 per hour).
Meet any other unspecified but implied requirements for research, coding, experimentation, and collaboration in a team environment.
