Job Description
A research internship focused on improving driving safety and performance through human-centered AI and human-machine interfaces, involving experiment design and analysis with a team of researchers in a simulated driving environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and run experiments in driving motion simulators to study driver behavior and states
- Analyze how driver traits and emotional states influence unsafe driving behaviors
- Develop and evaluate human-machine interface technologies to improve driving safety and performance
- Collaborate with research team to produce scholarly publications in human-computer interaction or cognitive science
Requirements
- Candidates must be pursuing a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Psychology, Human Factors Engineering, or related fields.
- Candidates should have experience running experiments with human subjects.
- Candidates must be willing to work in a hybrid in-office role for a 12-week paid internship during Summer 2026.
- Candidates should have experience with designing and running experiments in a driving motion simulator to study driver traits and states related to unsafe driving behaviors.
- Candidates must have the ability to work with a strong team of researchers to produce a publication at a human-computer interaction or cognitive science journal or conference.
- Candidates should have experience or familiarity with machine learning (experience with machine learning is a plus).
- Candidates should have experience or ability to measure physiological signals such as electrodermal activity (EDA), heart rate, and eye-tracking (experience with measuring physiological signals is a plus).
