Job Description
The Energy Materials Intern will develop and test methodologies for AI agents to interact with scientific workflows, aiming to enhance collaboration and automation in materials research related to emissions-free mobility technologies at Toyota Research Institute.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop methodologies for AI agents to interact with scientific workflows.
- Study and improve agentic capacity to plan, design, and execute complex tasks in scientific and engineering domains.
- Prove out the practical application of agentic AI systems.
- Create and develop adaptable frameworks for AI-driven scientific exploration and automation.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a relevant undergraduate or graduate program related to AI, robotics, materials science, or engineering.
- Ability to develop methodologies for AI agents to interact with scientific workflows and improve collaboration with users.
- Experience or knowledge in studying and improving agentic capacity to plan, design, and execute complex tasks within scientific and engineering domains.
- Ability to prove out the practical application of AI systems, including producing and developing adaptable frameworks.
- Strong understanding of agentic AI's contribution to scientific exploration and automation.
- Availability to work a paid 12-week internship during Summer 2026, in an in-office role.
- Willingness to work in California-based roles with an expected pay range of $45 to $65 per hour, depending on individual factors such as knowledge, skills, and experience.
