Job Description
The Professional Engineer, Civil - Construction role involves leading site design for industrial rail facilities, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver infrastructure solutions for railroads, and developing project management and business development skills within a hybrid work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead site design for industrial facilities such as railyards, maintenance and service buildings, locomotive fueling stations, and administrative offices
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop innovative infrastructure solutions for railroads
- Grow project management skills and mentor junior staff
- Support business development by cultivating client relationships and assisting with proposal development
Requirements
- Possession of a Professional Engineer (PE) license in Civil Engineering or the ability to obtain one in Illinois.
- Experience in site design for industrial facilities such as railyards, maintenance and service buildings, locomotive fueling stations, and administrative offices.
- Ability to lead site design projects independently and take responsibility for project outcomes.
- Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including architecture, civil, electrical, mechanical, and structural engineering professionals.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to business development efforts by cultivating client relationships and supporting proposal development.
- Willingness to work in a hybrid environment with three days in the office (Tuesday through Thursday) and two days working from home (Monday and Friday).
- Successful completion of a standard pre-employment background screening, including Social Security verification, educational verification, review of criminal convictions, and driving history.
